Mark Westerfield, Psy.D.

Child Psychologist in Menlo Park, CA

Licensed Clinical Psychologist (CA PSY 31069)

I am a licensed clinical psychologist specializing in neuropsychological and educational assessments for children, teens, and young adults. I commonly evaluate kids who may have learning disabilities, ADHD, autism, depression, anxiety, or other mental health conditions. The comprehensive assessments I provide help identify your child's strengths and generate evidence-based recommendations tailored to their needs. I'm passionate about helping kids and young adults build confidence, achieve goals, manage stress, and nurture positive relationships.

Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of working in a variety of different settings, including public, charter, and therapeutic schools, community health centers, non-profits, hospitals, and private clinics. In addition, I have conducted program evaluations for community mental health organizations, served as an advocate for youth in the juvenile justice system, and supervised post-doctoral fellows. These diverse experiences all inform my assessments and treatment recommendations.

Having grown up in the Bay Area, I am also acutely aware of the academic pressures and social challenges that your children face. After high school, I attended Tufts University, where I graduated with honors in biopsychology and played varsity tennis. Following a year as a behavioral counselor in a therapeutic school, I completed my doctorate in clinical psychology (Psy.D.) at William James College (Newton, MA), an APA-accredited program. I returned to the Bay Area to complete my post-doctoral fellowship at Morrissey-Compton Educational Center, and have conducted assessments at several local organizations since becoming a licensed psychologist. I began Westerfield Psychological Assessment in 2020 with the goal of providing accurate, comprehensive, and strength-based evaluations to children, teens, and young adults.

Outside of work, I enjoy playing soccer, reading, cooking, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.

Child Psychologist in Menlo Park, CA

Licensed Clinical Psychologist (CA PSY 35876)

I am a licensed clinical psychologist, and my introduction to psychological and educational assessments began at the Dr. Leon O. Brenner Center for Psychological Assessment and Consultation in Massachusetts. This early training deepened my appreciation for the transformative role assessments play in fostering self-understanding, guiding treatment, and creating meaningful pathways for personal, professional, and academic growth. Alongside my assessment work, I also bring extensive experience conducting therapy with individuals, couples, and families. I draw on diverse training rooted in integrated approaches to deliver care tailored to each person’s unique needs.

I previously served as a Behavioral Medicine Specialist at Kaiser Permanente and completed my postdoctoral training at UC Davis Student Health and Counseling Services. I also completed my APA-accredited internship at Lynn Community Health Center. I earned my Doctorate in Psychology (Psy.D.) in Clinical Psychology at William James College in Massachusetts, where I also received a Master of Arts in Couples and Family Therapy and Counseling Psychology. Before that, I completed my Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences at the University of Connecticut.

I bring a warm, collaborative approach to my work and am committed to offering thoughtful, culturally informed evaluations. I am thrilled to join WPA, where I look forward to providing comprehensive, high-quality assessment services and supporting clients on their journeys of growth and self-discovery.

When I’m not working, you can find me exploring California, watching the latest K-Drama, or spending time with my family and friends.
